Last night I had one of my very good girlfriends over for wine and appetizers. It was also great because she brought over her too adorable dogs. So the humans drank wine and had cheese appetizers with fruit well the dogs played. And it just reassured me of the old saying is definitely true wine is best enjoyed it with friends. My friend Jill is a woman after my own heart because she not only a doggy mom but she loves white wine. So I broke out the 2012 Moniker Chardonnay. This smooth and refreshing white wine was perfect with my cheese and apple appetizers I paired with tithe rich and bold Chardonnay
New World-style Moniker Chardonnay was made primarily from grapes grown at La Ribera, our family’s home vineyard along the banks of the Russian River. After gently pressing a combination of whole-cluster and de-stemmed grapes, we fermented and aged the wine four months sur lie in American oak barrels.
This added a sturdy, complex framework for our fruit’s signature pear, apple and crisp mineral flavors.
We then blended in a lush, barrel-fermented Viognier sourced from nearby Hopland and another subtly spicy lot of Chardonnay aged in French oak for a wine that is equal parts nuanced and approachable.
