Cool summer breezes, flip-flops, sunglasses and long afternoon walks on the beach.
This sounds like summer doesn’t it? Well today I bring you a wine that is very
Well known and needs no introduction. It is Woodbridge by Robert Mondavi.
I can’t think of a better wine to bring to you during these hot summer days.
Whether you enjoy a glass or maybe a couple of bottles by the pool
with your friends or with family having fun at the beach,
you can’t go wrong with Robert Mondavi’s Woodbridge wines.
Over 30 years ago Robert Mondavi set out to establish a wine culture in America by
putting great California wine on every table, meant to be enjoyed on any occasion.
In the early 1900s Caesar and Rose Mondavi, newlyweds from Sassoferrato Italy,
settled in Minnesota during the time that the national Prohibition act was passed.
Robert Mondavi felt confident that the Napa Valley and California could ultimately
create wines that would stand shoulder to shoulder with the great wines of the world.
He founded the iconic Robert Mondavi Winery in 1966 near Oakville, California;
the first major winery to be built in the Napa Valley since Prohibition.
Now onto the wine.
I have 4 wines to showcase for you today all of which are whites wines, perfect for summer.
First on the list and one of my favorites; LIGHTLY OAKED CHARDONNAY
with its bold and flavorful citrus notes. It’s the perfect summer wine for drinking outdoors.
With low acidity and flavors of sour apple and pear, it pairs well with
light dishes such as pasta, salad and grilled salmon.
Second on the list is Wood-bridge famous WHITE ZINFANDEL.
It is bright and crisp with a hint of sweet. It’s the perfect wine to enjoy on those hot summer afternoons. With flavors of pineapple and watermelon it has a hint of rose on the nose.
This bold yet smooth wine pairs perfect with a variety of dishes such as
spicy dishes, BBQ chicken and aged cheeses.
Third on the list is their SAUVIGNON BLANC, which is my second pick for summer beach drinking. With flavors of pineapple and cherry’s and green apple it has vanilla on the nose.
It pairs well with fresh fruit salad, ceviche and Fettuccine Alfredo. You can’t go wrong with this wine, whether it be enjoyed on the beach or during a summer family get-together.
Last, but not least, is my number one pick for summer drinking; PINOT GRIGIO. Itis refreshing and crisp with very little acidity, and it goes down smooth and fresh. With flavors of nectarine and fresh peach it has pineapple on the nose. This wine is food friendly with lots of different seafood dishes, such as oysters, but also lemon chicken and raspberry ice-cream.
So hit the beach and grab a bottle!
